Client: Ben Goode
Ben Goode Photography is a family run business based in Southampton, Hampshire, comprising of three photographers.

Collectively they have over 10 years of experience. They specialise in wedding photography, portraits, engagement and newborn photoshoots.

Project brief
Ben Goode Photography wanted to re-define their web presence and perception, taking the site from an online portfolio to a high end photography business.

To achieve this they wanted to focus on 3 areas. Accessibility, the target audience and the information available to the customer online.

They wanted to remove some of their previous issues experienced by relying too heavily on Adobe Flash.

Target Audience:
The target audience would be refined into two key demographics, weddings and portraits.

Available Information:
More information was needed to present to the customer online, detailing options and price.

The focus of the site still had to remain with the photography, to illustrate the quality of the work.

Our approach
After our marketing analysis it was evident that the redesign of the site should remain clean and neutral so as not to detract from the photography, which would be the sites biggest selling and focal point.

The primary objective of the site was to encourage visitors to make contact with the client. To make the method of contact easier and more accessible we introduced a contact form, which has been lacking from the original site. Along with a ‘contact us’ call to action on every page. The secondary objectives were to impress and build confidence with the galleries for both weddings and portraits, as well as educate the customer.

To tackle the accessibility issue previously experienced with the Adobe Flash galleries, we opted to use jQuery on the homepage. This would enable the client to present their photography in a large format, which would be easy to use and render correctly in all browsers. For the weddings and portraits galleries we used a java script based light box. This would again enable the client to present their photography in a large format. The advantage of using the light box feature, is that is takes up very little space on the page as we can use image thumbnails, leaving room for the client to write more about the prices and options available which was one of their key objectives.

The result
The site has transformed the online presence and perception of their business. They have already experienced an increase in online traffic and conversions. Studionet tackled the key areas set out in the initial brief, and exceeded the customers expectations.
